School Programs

Breakfast and Lunch Program

A breakfast and lunch program is provided in our Multi-Purpose room.  Breakfast may be purchased for $1.50 and lunch may be purchased for $2.25.  A free or reduced breakfast/lunch is provided to eligible families.  An application is available in the school office.  Please pay in the Multi-Purpose Room any day before school.  Envelopes are also available in the office.

Milk may be purchased separately.  The cost of milk is $.40 or $2.00 per week.  You are encouraged to pay by the week or by the month.  For more information about the school lunch program please call 574-5607.

Celebrations at School

We enjoy celebrating students' birthdays at school.  Due to potential latex allergies we do require that balloons not be brought to school. Please check with your child's teacher in advance of the special day to arrange for the best time.  Also, please limit celebration treats to one simple food item and a drink (no red punch if at all possible).  Remember that we have students with severe food allergies.

Classes officially "celebrate" a harvest party at the end of October, Winter Party the last day of school before winter break, and a Valentine's party on February 14.  PTA works to secure room parents to assist with these fun events.  Again, we require that these be simple affairs with a modest amount of food and a drink.  Per Board Policy, monetary donations are not to be requested.

Lost and Found

Each year boxes of unclaimed clothing are donated to needy families.  We do our best to return items to the children when they are marked with some identification.  Please put your child’s name on his/her clothing.  The lost and found is located in the Multi-Purpose Room.  The box is emptied at the Winter Break time, and again in the Spring and Summer.

Communication

Each Tuesday expect your child to bring home a folder.  This folder contains communication from the teacher, school, and district.  Your child is expected to return the folder each week after you have signed it.  If you don't see this folder, please check with your child's teacher as soon as possible!

After School Program

The Sylvan Union School District's Child Care has a program on our campus.  Child care is available Monday through Friday from 2:30 p.m. until 6:00 p.m.  We are located in the Multi-purpose room.

The children are involved in activities throughout the afternoon.  There are inside and outside group games, art projects, science, snack, freeplay, and a time for homework.
